About Craig McDowall Architectural Services

CMAS  predominantly provide architectural services to private clients who wish to carry out small to medium scale domestic architectural projects ranging from porches, garages and extensions to new-build dwellings. With our experience in small to medium scale residential construction projects we can confidently provide sound advice on all aspects of Planning Applications, Building Regulations (Technical Standards) and the construction process.

Our services can be individually tailored to suit each client's requirements, and include:

• Measured surveys - detailed measured building surveys with 'as existing' drawings prepared
• Initial feasibility studies - an understanding of your needs, objectives, budget, etc; to generally establish whether your project is viable from the outset; initial identification of feasible options
• Scheme design/ submission of Planning Application
• Technical design/ submission of Building Warrant application
• Preparation of detailed tender information - having good working relationships with a number of local reputable contractors we can can advise on a suitable local contractor(s) for your project and assist you throughout the tendering process
• Advice on sustainability, energy efficiency and incorporation of renewable energy systems into your project or existing property. Where budgets allow, we aim to go beyond the Technical Standards (regulations) requirements for energy efficiency
• Creation of deed plans
• CAD draughting service - we provide a CAD draughting service to individuals and currently a number of established architects and structural engineers on a sub-contracting basis

Craig McDowall is an Architectural Technologist who has spent the last 12
years working within a number of established private architectural practices in Perthshire, with a period in local authority.  These include Murdoch Chartered Architects, Dundee City Council, The Denholm Partnership and David Soppitt Associates (Associate).

Craig graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology.

He lives in Perth with his wife and young family and enjoys making the most
of the rivers, hills and fresh air of Perthshire.

Craig is joined in the office by Dylan the Cocker Spaniel who is responsible for encouraging daily staff exercise.
